Inside the Radio Museum in Kurrajong, NSW, near the base of the Blue Mountains west of Sydney.
As an aging motorcycle rider myself, it was my pleasure to take a Tuesday morning bike ride with a group of Ulyesses Motorcycle Club bike riders up to the base of the Blue Mountains and visit the Kurrajong Radio Museum.
About ten motorcycles and their not-so-young riders (myself included) took part in the pleasure run, which started from the McDonalds restaurant in Castle Hill at 10am and wound its way via Windsor towards the tiny town of Kurrajong, New South Wales.
There we parked our steel steeds outside the Radio Museum, and enjoyed the full tour and lecture which explained the history of Radio right from the development of telegraphy (sending morse code), through the birth of Amateur Radio and on to the development of Australia’s own commercial radio broadcast stations – plus the ones such as 2FC and 2BL that were eventually bought up by the Australian government and became the ABC network.
After the Radio Museum Kurrajong visit, where I admit I learned a great deal, we motorcyclists headed up the winding road towards Mount Victoria, before the rain made the road too slick for our peace of mind, and we turned back to Kurrajong village for a pleasant lunch before heading back to Sydney.
