License needed for an FRS/GMRS radio?

I would like to buy a Motorola T7400R Talkabout Radio. This two-way radio has both FRS and GMRS features. Will I need to get an FCC license for this transceiver even if I only use the FRS radio channels and not the GMRS ones?

You will only need an FCC license if you use the GMRS channels in the USA. Stick to the FRS channels and you won’t need a license, as long as you are in the US, of course. People in other countries are not covered by US (or FCC) radio rules, and will have to check with their own government departments that issue 2-way radio licenses. I would expect these radios to be illegal in all non-US countries, including Australia and the UK.
