What does the Coast Guard announce on the Marine Radio band apart from emergencies?

They have "marine information broadcasts" covering anything that may be relevant to mariners. It may include being asked to lookout for a missing or overdue boat, severe weather warnings, navigational information etc, in addition to emergency stuff. Most of the radio traffic is pretty routine.
The purpose of Marine Radio is to increase the safety of ships and boats, so the Coastguard pass on any information they think the vessels ought to be aware of. And it works very well.
