Improving radio reception
by David Harvey VK2DMH on Friday, July 31st, 2009 | 1 Comment
My radio receiver at work can only listen to one radio station, and I am really sick of listening to the same type of music all the time.
I would like to lengthen the antenna wire so I can listen to some of the other broadcast stations as well.
How should I make this flimsy radio antenna longer?
It is one of those floppy aerials which you have to attach to something to hold it up. It cannot support its own weight.

Do mean the clear dipole type for F.M. that looks like a tee (T)? If so, and your in a metal building you need to tape it to a window or get it outside of the window. You can get extra twin-lead from Radio Shack (in the U.S.) to extend the lead length to the radio. Don’t add on to top of the tee, this is cut to the frequency of the F.M. Band.
