Obtaining your Ham Radio license

How much will it cost me to get an Amateur Radio (Ham radio) license and how long does the test normally take?
I am so looking forward to taking part in all the fun activities that come with being a licensed Ham radio operator.
If you couldn't you find what you were looking for, search here to find it using Google!

It should only take a few weeks if you apply yourself. The actual questions on the test are publicly available.
Here is a great website with study guides and info:

Have fun – it is a great hobby!
The information from the ARRL site is excellent but remember, every country in the world has their own rules – and different fees – for obtaining a ham radio ticket. The exam fee in the USA is usually $15.

You will find there are different levels of examination. These include a beginner level license that allows you to use two way radios in the VHF 2-meter band (around 146 MHz), a mid-range license that allows you to use some of the HF bands as well – using both voice SSB signals and morse code – and an advanced level license that allows you the whole range of Amateur Radio frequencies and modes.
